When I step away from this post, I will enter my last prayer time for the exercises in everyday life. Tomorrow is my last meeting.
what happens next..
self-directed Bible study will return.
continue with daily examen.
try to hook up with a friend to read a book on spirituality together, slowly, and with regular chats.
continue with my role of leading Tuesday night discussion twice a month at my church.
return to group spiritual direction.
continue with spiritual direction, but most likely not with the man I have been meeting with weekly since August.
continue to consider a route to be trained in providing spiritual direction.
continue with times of silence at Wernersville.
continue blogging.
sit back and wonder about what has happened since August.
try to truly accept life as a gift, and use the joy in knowing, to give back to God.
so, as I say to my students when I want their focus.... "Onward."
Thank you for letting some of the graces of this spill over onto the rest of the world!
ReplyDeleteLikewise, I just ended my Spiritual Exercises yesterday. Will have one meeting where my spiritual director next week and then we will meet once a month...I'll post a new entry on my blog tomorrow about the closing for me. I haven't been as faithful about my blogging on the Exercises as I should have been, but I'm continuing the blog and hopefully will get more consistent than I've been this past month.
ReplyDeleteOops, didn't post my blog correctly. Now the link from my name should work.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a little under 2 years since I finished the Exercises and, last night in the class I am taking to learn to direct them, we reached the final Contemplation.
ReplyDeleteI find that I re-experience the Exercises constantly, in a continual unfolding of my life of prayer (which is to say, my life).
Thank you so much for writing about your retreat.
What's the name of the book, if you don't mind sharing it, Wayne?
ReplyDeleteCool site!
