On the Way to Silence: a stop at the Ugly Oyster Drafthaus
I saw some tweeting about a garden gnome and the next thing I know was in the passenger seat being driven by a jazz loving, pie making friend who happened to be the father of 2/3 of the 20 somethings in the back seat, who for some reason call me uncle. We were headed to see some minor league baseball.
So I was reading the directions and saw a list of restaurants at the bottom. The Ugly Oyster Drafthaus and as the night unfolded it became a bit of an obsession, especially when one of the young ones checked out their website. This is what it claimed...
Ours is the Oldest Pub in the county. The Ugly Oyster was built in Yorkshire England by Traditional English Craftsman. It was disassembled, transported and reconstructed by those same craftsman at it's current location. The authentic Celtic atmosphere projects feelings of warmth and welcome.
I knew it would be visited when I went to Wernersville and it is where in the midst of the hand crafted beauty, I ate lunch on the way to some silence ~

T is for Tree Views
This photo showed up in my Oregon post this past Wednesday. It's back
I remember the amazement of coming across this scene. and that may be the best way to view it.
But I also have to wonder about the force it took for the water to place it there. The reoded hillside says more about that force. I wonder how intertidal critters have reacted to a tree being thrown into their space. Where did it die? What current brought it to this beach? Was it a storm or just a normal high tide that lifted it up.
And what would an artist make of this. How many other lifted cameras. What would happen if one lifted a brush to paint it on canvas? And a poet, essayist, or story teller would create what if that sat down and lifted their pencils to the scene.
But it is Easter and I am thinking about the spiritual force needed to lift up all men and women.
May scientific, artistic, and spiritual folk continue to see this world and share their responses with me.
And of course one must consider jazz too:
ahh, may your dreams tonight be filled with trees...

Stratoz gets political... support the arts in PA
well what is one to do when The Pennsylvania State Senate declares that they have located exactly zero dollars for The Pennsylvania Council for The Arts.
what can you do?
Go to the website of the Citizens For The Arts in PA. They make it easy to contact the good folk in Harrisburg, who serve us.
So much , so much depends upon these grants.
