Seven thoughts on Rainbow Mandalas

Mosaic Woman are sitting down to write about our art for five minutes, one prompt was Now I love working with (Rainbow Dr Ed Mandalas)   

Because:

1. I get to use a huge variety of glass (not just colors) and it works well.  The rainbow brings them together.  
2. they are resonating with close friends, two of whom have bought one
3. they are raising money to find a cure for pancreatic cancer
4. they can be done in an endless variety of ways
5. they can use colors I don't often use; like yellow-greens
6. tis my favorite design
7. a reminder to those who loved Ed that he touched my heart

During 2013, I would like to raise more than 150.00 for pancreatic cancer research in the name of my friend Dr Ed, who bought the first mandala I made using this design. 

 While making the rainbow Epiphany Stars I decided  to make a rainbow Dr Ed Mandala.  My friend, who was visiting from Georgia, bought it to give as a Valentines present. 

 Ever since my friend bought that first mandala, I have given 30% of all sales to find a cure.  The only way to reach my goal is to make more of these mandalas.  I have finished two more featuring the rainbow.

more thoughts.... cancer and stained glass

Last spring we only did one craft show, we did not make our booth fee... so far the only time that has happened.

Anyway, a friend, a great man, showed up that day. For 8 months I had been dropping food off for him and his family. He would be curious about my life. He said he wanted to come to the craft show. Pancreatic cancer was killing him.

He bought a stained glass mandala that day.

I recently went back to that design.

I hope that I never call it anything but, Dr. Ed's Mandala, and I will give a portion of any sale of said design to fight this cancer.

sales were terrible that day...

but that is only part of the story. For you, my friend, you are missed...
